Subject: Chat: skunking
Boy, you wimps. I grew up with a dog that ALWAYS smelled of skunk.
Everytime
he would start to "not smell", he would go corner another skunk & get
sprayed
on purpose. It was so normal to us kids that one time on vacation, late at
night we drove by an area that had skunk smell & my younger brother partly
woke
up & asked "Are we home?" when told no he asked "Then how did Dusty get
here?"
I actually like the smell of skunk (Yeah, yeah, I already know I'm wierd)

Subject: RESOURCES: See our new Greyt Gifts!
We've revamped our website for new gifts and we hope you'll take a look.
Please check out our new ceramic jewelry (signature designs by Carolyn=
Edlund) including "Davie" in white/black and gold, "Mikie" in your choice=
of 6 colors (only $20) and the popular Bonnie's Heart.=20
We've added a tilted wine stand to the wine glasses, etc., for your=
entertainment, but eliminated the etched bottles of wine- so sorry- just=
too costly to purchase & too complicated to ship (alcohol). We'll be=
replacing the wines, however, with empty etched bottles for your use as=
decanters or bottles for oils and soaps- the perfect greyhound gift and=
they compliment nicely the etched wine boxes you'll see here.
You'll be impressed with Betty- our new pendant created from Sue Ross's=
design with her permision, by Monika Bachman, just for NCGS.
The magnets we created for the Greyhound Gathering Goddie Bags are up on
our=
site now, too. We're ever changing!
Please come visit- 100% of what we earn is contributed to greyhounds in=
need. If you don't spend it, we can't give it away!

My Albert loves to lie down in the water, although I think he's too lazy to
swim. (One of my all-time favorite pictures is Albert in the pool at
playgroup - see http://www.crosswinds.net/~secondwind - in the Wandering
section.)
Sunny, on the other hand, doesn't see any reason to get wet unless I
absolutely insist. However, at our one amazing week at Camp Gone to the
Dogs Sunny did get his Beginning Swimmer certificate - they really did
teach him not to swim but rather that he already knew how to swim and put
in a situation where he had no choice (carefully supervised), he swam. So
he wears his little tag while he stands on the shore looking disgusted at
the proximity of water.

Can't say enough about our lovely Senior Ladies! We have two, both who came
from homes that "no longer had room" for an old dog. We know we have a
limited number of years with Lanna and Olive, but then again, we have a
limited number of years on this earth ourselves, so all of us should cherish
every day we have with each other. They are gracious ladies both; we have
to look out for them because both will try to keep up with Jack (the Strong
Man), because they want to be together and want to be with us. They are no
different in personality than the younger dogs, I guess that's what makes
them so charming--they are still young at heart and full of fun, even if the
fun can't last as long. Perhaps this is what we cherish about all dogs:
they give a lifetime of love and joy in a few short years....Seniors do the
same.

Just a heads-up - I travel from Sarasota to Daytona Beach each 1st and 3rd
Sunday of the month - I am available, with notice, to transport greys along
that route and/or over as far as Ocala and Gainesville.
Don't know if this would be any help to anyone but seemed a shame to be
making these trips and not letting folks know, if it would help :0))

Subject: Need advice on gnawing
We have a 3year old grey that is perfect in all behavioral and personality
respects, except that she likes to gnaw on wood and leather furniture.
If anyone knows how to cure this habit, please let me know.
