Some of the functions you can perform on the List are (reproduced from an earlier post):
All List Members can now search the list archives based on particular keywords.
For instance, say you are interested in past information posted on Glaucoma. You will
simply address an email message to:
and in the text of the message type:
search 'glaucoma' in greyhound-l
You will get an email message, in return,
highlighting all of the messages in the archives where the word Glaucoma is found. You can
pick and choose which of these posts you would like to see, following the instructions in
the returned email.
You can also set up date restrictions. For instance:
search 'glaucoma' in greyhound-l since 98/06/06
This will return all posts with the word
Glaucoma in them that were posted to the list since June 6 of 1998.
PLEASE NOTE: the keyword MUST be enclosed in single quotes 'keyword' and if you use the
date option, you must list it as Year/Month/Day:
98/06/06
A NEW NOTE: You can actually search for a specific word, like Tice, and NOT get a return of everything that includes the "tice" letters in it. To do this, add a space before and after the keyword in the search string:
search ' Tice ' in greyhound-l
Give it a try and let me know how you like it.
This does NOT give anyone permission to forward these posts to anyone off the list OR to
use the info in newsletters or magazines without specific permission from the original
authors of the posts. If I find out you are doing this, you will be removed from the list.
If it happens a lot, the archive search function will be disbanded.
