What the Greyhound-List Is |
The Greyhound-l is a mailing list devoted to the
Greyhound breed. We prefer to remain non-denominational, and we welcome all Greyhound
owners, breeders, exhibitors, rescue and adoption groups, racers or anyone with an
interest in the Greyhound breed.
Our primary goal is to act as a support resource for new adopters and owners. Our
secondary goal is to help facilitate the placement of Greyhounds into homes....to this
end, we encourage adoption groups and the Greyhound Underground Railroad
(GUR) to use us as a networking tool. Our third goal is to provide a place where people
can share information on medical, behavioral, performance and care issues. Lastly, we are
here to bring the "greater" Greyhound world together - to create a sense of
community - to educate - to share our joys and sorrows.
What the Greyhound-List Is Not |
The Greyhound-l is not a forum for those who
frequent dog tracks and wish to discuss the relative merits of tracks, betting,
handicapping and other items of that nature. If you are into that, there are other
resources out there where you can compare notes and betting stories.
The Greyhound-l does not exist for you to air your personal agendas....whether pro or con.
We're not here so you can publicly flame other adoption groups, AKC breeders, pet owners,
or other individuals or entities. We understand that the Greyhound breed and Greyhound
racing are intertwined and the issues surrounding greyhound racing are complex and
controversial. This controversy necessarily excites a great deal of emotion - but the
complexity makes it even more important that we discuss it carefully and calmly. In any
case, there is a very broad range of opinions regarding this issue on this list. Out of
respect for that diversity of opinion, we ask that those wishing to discuss these issues
refrain from personal attacks, inflammatory rhetoric, and repeated attempts at
"conversion". After all, regardless of which side of the fence each of us is on,
we're all here because we share a love for Greyhounds.
